We're currently prepping for our next fashion show for the Modernism Week Fall Kick-Off Party in two weeks. The theme is "Suddenly 1954!" All models will be in 1950's glamor wear from head to toe. I love going online and looking for inspiration to gather all the looks, it's always helpful. Here are my favorite top 10 looks for 1950s Glamor elegance. Labor Day Weekend Sale

We are back and running in business! We thought in observance of Labor Day we would start off with a HUGE sale! We have five racks full of dresses with 50% off discounts. The rest of the store's merchandise will have a 20% off discount as well. Everyone who's shopped mostly bought from our jewelry sale table. Our jewelry table had gems that were only $5 and $10. 

We will be open Monday September 2nd from 10am-5pm with the same deals.

Vintage Fashion | Madmen Cocktail Party

Here are some of our latest "Madmen" dresses new to the store. Seems like Palm Springs is always throwing a Madmen themed party in town. It's also hard not to since the city is filled with mid century modern design and homes everywhere in town. Our number one question of the late at Deja Vu  is, do you have any Madmen dresses? Fashion Show & Luncheon

Vintage Fashion X Coachella 2013 X Deja Vu Vintage Finery

It's that time again when thousands of music lovers and artists come and visit the Coachella Valley for the Coachella Music & Arts Festival!  The three day party is held in the southern California desert 30 miles east of Palm Springs. As I mentioned earlier music lovers and artist's come together and appreciate their favorite bands all under the Coachella Valley sky. The three day music festival is known best for putting together hundreds of bands together, their unique and creative art installations and we cant forget Coachella's fashion scene, also known for So-Cal's fashion weekend! The fashion scene taken place at Coachella is a Bohemian relaxed look- a similar style from 60s & 70s fashion which you can find some great pieces from us! Vintage Designers: Alfred Shaheen

Alfred Shaheen is one of the best known of the Hawaiian garment and textile designers of the 20th Century. The designer was active from 1948 into the 1980's. His most recognizable and collectable pieces are from the 1950's.

In 1948 he opened Alfred Shaheen to make Hawaiian shirts for men and dresses for women.

 He set up Surf ‘n Sand Hand Prints to print the colorful Hawaiian fabrics. His hand printed textiles were based on the flora and fauna of the Hawaiian Islands, along with Hawaiian traditions and authentic tapa cloth designs.

 

Shaheen produced not only the fabric, but they also manufactured clothing made from it. Shaheen was known for their sexy sarong dresses and swim suits, Hawaiian shirts and halter dresses with full skirts (similar to dress in photo.) The company closed in 1988 when Alfred Shaheen retired.

Modernism Week 2013: Informal Modeling

 Modernism Week 2013 was filled with many events this year such as architectural tours, educational events and of course the fun and chic cocktail parties, but you can not forget the FASHION. To view our Dwell & Paul Kaplan group fashion show held at The Fontenell you can click here. 

During Modernism Week we had informal modeling shows both held at Jakes Restaurant & Trio located in the Uptown Design District of Palm Springs. 

This was a great way to inform people about our store and who we are! This was fun for their customers to see the modern fashion of the 1950s/ 1960's while enjoying their brunch.
